I don’t post my starting weight and current weight despite getting asked all the time, and I do that for a couple different reasons. 👇🏼 1. The scale is irrelevant if you are happy with how you look and feel. 2. Healthy looks different on everyone. Never compare your weight to someone else’s, we are all different. Yes, I’ve lost 70 lbs but what is more important is what I’ve gained. I’ve gained confidence, self love, happiness, and health. The number on the scale used to mean so much to me, now when I see it, it’s just a fact. It doesn’t dictate how I feel. It doesn’t dictate how my day is going to go. Because I know I am taking care of my body and I am happy with what I see in the mirror. That doesn’t mean I don’t have goals and that I am not trying to better myself.. it just means I do not let the scale control me like it used to. 🙌🏼

Regan Patterson var lei av å føle usikkerhet rundt sin egen kropp, og at hun gikk glipp av opplevelser i livet på grunn av den usikkerheten.
Men istedenfor å kaste seg på et kjør av dietter, har hun brukt god tid og gjort små endringer i livsstilen som til sammen har sørget for et vekttap på 35 kg i løpet av to år.
Feeling a little emotional today about this transformation photo. These pictures are EXACTLY 2 years apart. To the day. I remember how I felt in the before picture. I was actually happy!! I had lost about 10-15 lbs already! Which was a huge accomplishment for me, especially over the holidays. This was about the time that I got serious about my weight loss journey. But I think the most important part of my transformation is the time it took. Y’all, it’s been 2 whole years!! (And not done yet!) It doesn’t happen over night. That’s why it’s so important to work on habits. Because you’re not always going to be motivated. It’s going to be SO hard some days, but quitting is never going to get you there. I think about if I would have quit. Man, what I would be missing out on. Don’t miss out on another minute of your life. No body says you have to be perfect, you just have to keep going. That’s literally it. Just. Keep. Going. 💕

I 2015 veide 25-åringen 100 kg. I dag jobber hun som personlig trener.
- Jeg er stolt over tiden jeg har brukt på det, fordi realistisk sett er ikke slike forvandlinger gjort over natten. Det krever mye tid, engasjement og bestemthet, sier Patterson til nettsiden Popsugar.
Små endringer som over tid gjør utslag er å legge flere grønnsaker på middagstallerkenen og å dra på treningssenteret noen ganger i uken.
February 2016 —> December 2017 A lot can happen in less than 2 years when you put your mind to it. Was it easy? Absolutely not. Is weight loss lineal? Nope! You will have ups and downs. Was it worth it? 1000 times yes. Please don’t forget that this isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s SO easy to get discouraged. That’s why it’s so important to create habits so that you will continue to keep going even when the motivation isn’t there. Weight loss is temporary, these habits are going to help you be able to lose the weight AND keep it off! 💪🏼 Don’t be hard on yourself either. If you lose 10 lbs in 3 months and think to yourself “I ONLY lost 10 lbs in 3 months,” I want you to think of what you would say to a friend if they told you that. You wouldn’t tell them to quit. You wouldn’t tell them it’s not worth it. You would tell them how amazing they are doing and to keep going. So why would you tell yourself any different??? Trust me. I know it’s hard. But it’s even harder living in a body you aren’t comfortable in. Also, I want to add.. Before: early 2016 After: October 2017 The before picture was just a few months before I started BBG. I had just started working out and wasn’t really pushing myself. It wasn’t until I came across @kayla_itsines program and saw how challenging it would be for me. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. Keep going even when it gets hard, and you’ll be surprised what you are capable of. 💪🏼

BBG og «80/20-regelen»
- Jeg har fulgt Kayla Itsines BBG-treningsprogram i 65 uker nå. Jeg forelsket meg i hvor utfordrende det var og hvordan jeg så hvordan jeg endret meg, ikke bare fysisk, men også teknisk. Jeg la også vektløfting inn i treningen min, sier Patterson til nettsiden.
BBG er et 28 minutters, intensivt treningsprogram som skal utføres tre ganger i uken. Programmene tar for seg muskelgruppene armer, ben, mage og fullkropp. Hver dag er viet en egen muskelgruppe. Programmene består typisk av øvelser som push-ups, planke, burpees, spensthopp og knebøy.
Den andre store endringen går på kosthold. Her følger Regan Patterson «80/20-regelen». Hun har skaffet seg oversikt over innholdet av kalorier og makronæringsstoffer i forskjellige matvarer og sørger for et kosthold bestående av 80 prosent næringsrik mat og 20 prosent godsaker.
Hardest thing for me to ever post. But there is so much power in vulnerability. 💜 Seeing the before picture is still hard for me. But I find so much comfort in knowing that I will never go back to that. Sometimes I will still have thoughts like “what if I gain the weight back?” And I have to stop myself because I am the one in control of that! Will I have times in my life where I am more lean than other times? Absolutely. But I will never let myself spiral out of control again. It’s been a long journey full of ups and downs, full of weight loss and weight gain. But one thing remained: I never lost hope of what I really wanted. It’s going to take time and it’s going to take you making many mistakes along the way. But everyday you have to wake up and try again, no matter how many times you fall down. Some days it’s going to be easy to hit your calorie goal and make it to the gym, other days you’re going to question why you are even doing this. KEEP GOING. Keep going until you can look back and say “I did that.” Because that’s the thing, no one else can do it for you and that’s something to be freaking proud of. So I hope this can motivate someone today to just keep grinding, because if I am capable of a journey like this, you are too. Just. Keep. Going. 💪🏼
Rådet til andre som vil følge i henne fotspor er å ha tålmodighet, og å huske at motivasjon er noe som kommer og går. Det gjelder å fortsette selv om motivasjonen ikke er der.
- Det er noe av det vanskeligste. En slik reise tar tid, og hver sin reise er unik. Din vil ikke være lik alle andres. Omfavn det og nyt turen. Alt det harde arbeidet vil lønne seg!
I know it’s easy to see a before/after picture and think “I can do that!” Then you bust your butt in the gym for a few weeks and eat clean and then step on the scale and look in the mirror and get discouraged that you aren’t seeing progress. I made this to show you that it takes TIME to achieve your goals. Whether it’s weight loss, or trying to gain muscle, etc. the most important factor is PATIENCE! The first picture is December of 2015. That’s almost 2 whole years of dedication. It doesn’t happen overnight. If it was a quick and easy process, everyone would do it! Just because it’s hard, doesn’t mean you can’t do it. You just have to make the decision that you are in it for the long haul. This isn’t a diet. This isn’t a 90 day challenge. This is your life. 💜
When you are interested, you do it when it’s easy. When you’re committed, you do it no matter what. 💪🏼 What are you waiting for? Why aren’t you doing everything you can to change your current situation? If you aren’t happy where you’re at, then it’s time to do something about it! I waited way too long before doing something about the way I felt about my body. Every single effort is changing you from the inside out. You just have to take that leap. It’s worth it. YOU are worth it. 💜
Post 3.5 mile, sweaty as heck selfie 😅 and for those of you voting that you love cardio on my Instagram poll, what is wrong with you?? 😜 just kidding! When I first started my weight loss journey, I loved cardio. I didn’t know much about strength training so I didn’t do much of it. But the more I learned about it and did it, I fell in love with it. And now cardio is just boring to me ☹️😂 People always ask me what the best work outs for weight loss is and my answer is always: the ones you enjoy doing. It’s harder to stick to something if you don’t enjoy doing it and have to force yourself. Find something you love and stick to that, and prioritize your nutrition and results will come 💪🏼
