Dette soldatbildet gikk rett til topps

Disse fantastiske blinkskuddene er ekte vare.

Det er 36 profesjonelle fotografer i det britiske forsvaret, og enda flere amatørfotografer. Hvert år arrangeres fotokonkurransen "Army Photographic Competition" som retter søkelyset både mot fotografene selv og livet som soldat.

Vinnerne av årets konkurranse er nå offentliggjort, og her ser vi visuelt sterke bilder fra operasjoner i Afghanistan til flyshow på hjemmebane.

Corporal Jamie Peters (35) samlet flest stemmer på Facebook med og ble hovedvinner vinner med bildet av et Apache-helikopter over en stor eksplosjon. Tittelen er "Fireball Flyers". Bildet er tatt under en flyoppvisning.

- Jeg ble veldig glad da jeg fant ut at jeg vant. Det er en god følelse at mange likte bildet mitt mer enn andres, sier Peters.

Fotografen bor i Wendover i Buckinghamshire sammen med sin kone. Bildene ble tatt på Royal International Air Show i Fairford.

- Alt klaffet og piloten var i riktig posisjon, og jeg fikk det bildet jeg hadde sett for meg. Jeg visste det var unvanlig fordi en ser vanligvis ikke et Apache-helikopter med en diger eksplosjon bak det. De er normalt hundrevis av meter oppe i lufta, forteller Peters om bildet.

Han legger ikke skjul på at eksplosjonen gir bildet det lille ekstra. 

- Eksplosjoner ser alltid bra ut sammen med militært materiell. Det er det alle tror militæret driver med, lar ting gå i lufta og skyte ting.

Jamie Peters har jobbet i Forsvaret i 15 år. De siste fire årene som fotograf, som betyr en god del reising. Han har vært i Afghanistan fem ganger, og bare dette året har han vært i Kenya, Ukraina og på Kypros.

- Variasjonen er viktig for meg. Jeg orker ikke å gjøre det samme hver dag.
